La musique de Sam Kirmayer, guitariste et compositeur montréalais, a récemment été décrite comme étant sincère et sans prétention (Jazz Guitar Life). En avril dernier, Sam a lancé son premier disque «Opening Statement» avec son quatuor composé de Sean Fyfe, Mike De Masi et Dave Laing. Selon ICI Musique, «La musique [de l'album] est vibrante d’énergie et de plaisir communicatif, on sent les membres du quartette soudés et naturellement connectés». Le Sam Kirmayer Quartet retourne au Upstairs pour un concert qui clôturera leur tournée d’hiver.

Sam Kirmayer, guitarist, composer and native Montrealer, plays straight-ahead jazz that has been described as having “no pretence or posturing, only musical sincerity” (Jazz Guitar Life). CBC Music included him in its list of "The 35 Best Canadian Jazz Musicians Under 35” citing his “incredible tone, sense of swing, rhythmic sophistication and melodic phrasing.” Last April, Sam released his debut CD "Opening Statement" with his quartet featuring Sean Fyfe, Mike De Masi and Dave Laing. The Sam Kirmayer Quartet returns to Upstairs for the last date of their winter tour.
