UFC 204 will mark Bisping’s first middleweight title defense, after ‘The Count’ dethroned Luke Rockhold via first-round KO earlier in June. Bisping was expected to defend the belt against top ranked MW ‘Jacare’ Souza, but fan demand was instrumental in the UFC’s decision to book a rematch with Henderson.
Henderson, who has confirmed he will retire win or lose next month, last fought at UFC 199 where he knocked out Hector Lombard in the second round. The 46-year-old is currently the oldest fighter on the roster and has been competing in mixed martial arts since 1997.
