Kevin Welch – acclaimed singer/songwriter and a founding force behind the Americana movement, has written for and collaborated with, the likes of Waylon Jennings, Solomon Burke, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks, John Prine, The Trishas and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Kevin returns to Australia, introducing his son, Dustin Welch – a consummate slide player, multi-instrumentalist and intensely literate songwriter who couples Appalachian-flavoured grooves and melodies with strange and beautiful lyrics.
He is ‘artist in residence’, board member and original musician co-founder of the US-based, not-for-profit, Solder Songs and Voices, assisting veterans through songwriting workshops to transform trauma into art.
The show will also feature guest appearances by singer / songwriters Canberra resident Fred Smith, having just done his own Famous Spiegeltent show, and ARIA nominated Kevin Bennett, now a firm friend and collaborator with the Soldier Songs and Voices movement.
