The Attractor Beams are the product of a grossly undiscussed and underground religious scripture beyond the asinine background of such science based beliefs, a scripture discovered by the late great E.E. Smith who presented it as gospel in his 1931 novel Spacehounds of IPC.

This distant memory was rediscovered between the pages of a book stolen from a infamous high street Northcote antique bookstore by a then un-corrupted youth, long story short The Attractor Beams were born... listen and believe the gospel of surfing dogs in outer space. ...No shit. If you can't dig it, you aint got no shovel.
