The Julian Taylor Band’s star is rising after recently performing a free concert for Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival at Toronto’s Dundas Square and a high-profile performance on the West Main Stage at the esteemed Toronto festival TURF. To top it off, the band has released the first EP of four, from the new double LP Desert Star (Aporia Records).

Already receiving national, commercial and CBC radio airplay and acclaim for the single “Just a Little Bit” – which has been included on the Blue Jays’ stadium playlist – the five-song EP is the fall edition of the four seasons series. The idea for the band’s sophomore double album is to have an EP released every quarter-year until completion. The EPs will stand alone as individual projects, but they are intended to contribute to one greater idea: that if a single flower can grow in a desert, anything can.

On this collection of late ‘60s and ‘70s-style soul/rock songs, you’ll find more than enough hooky choruses and dynamic arrangements all harnessed by Julian Taylor’s distinctive vocal prowess. The album begins with the request for “just a little bit more” in an upbeat, catchy and motivational song – which has already been picked up in a BWCC Haute Route Alps cycling group’s fan video – then ends with “too much of everything” in the track “Desert Star (Who Could Ask For anything More).”

“Taylor’s voice is passionate, versatile, completely soul driven.” ~ Toronto Music Reviews

“…knockout track “Just A Little Bit”. The inspired smooth tune deftly blends rock and soul into a palatable package, too infectiously hooky to shake after the first spin. Deliciously funky.” ~ Noah Siegel, New Canadian Music
