A bit about Pete...
Pete Armstrong is a Blackheath based singer/songwriter who specialises in reviving good memories, recent and past.
Pete plays and sings a variety of music drawing on the influences of Country, Blue Grass, Old Rock and Roll and Jazz with a distinct swing flavour. The late Audrey Auld-Mezera wrote " If i could clone him (Pete), I'd have the perfect band" and she went on to write "He's professional, reliable, keen, friendly and most importantly he knows and loves music". Pete is an exceptionally versatile artist, being available as a sideman/backing vocalist/ musician. Singing, playing drums and guitar including bass, dobro/ lap-steel, lead, rhythm and acoustic guitar is still very much apart of what Pete does. However more emphasis is being placed on the solo/singing/songwriting aspect of Pete's music. Currently Pete is working on a number of projects including preparing for a new solo CD to be recorded at Enrec studios in Tamworth. This became a reality as a result of Pete winning the inaugural Capital Country Music Association (CCMA) - "Golden Oldies" award at the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival held in January. Where Pete also reached the finals in three categories of the CCMA National Talent Quest. 2016 was a successful year with Pete being the runner up in The Frank Hardy Memorial at the South Australian Country Music Festival. And won the Songwriting section and the Male Vocal sections. Pete was the overall winner at the South Coast Country Music Festival 2016 and the Parkes Country Music Festival 2016. 2017 has got off to a strong start with Pete playing drums in the Gary Daniel and the True Country Band who were finalist in the battle of the bands at Tamworth Country Music Festival 2017. Pete entered the Reg Lindsay Memorial Talent awards 2017 and won the Country Song section and the Comedy Song sections . Pete has supported a number of bands with his versatile drum and guitar styles most recently including The West Brothers , Singer Songwriters Melissa Robertson ,Bev Branson, Paul Crowder and filling in on Drums for Gary Daniel and the True Country Band .
Pete is working towards the day that he will be playing and singing full time for his supper. Pete hopes that the music he plays spread even just wee bit of happiness to others.
