Every Wednesday, The American Comedy Co. hosts not only an open mic, but the best open mic in town. This is the mic that all the local comics bring their A-material to, as do many working comics on the road. Why, you ask?
STOP INTERRUPTING AND WE'LL TELL YOU
The Gaslamp Comedy Open Mic begins with a toast at 8pm, with the complimentary 8 O'Clock Shot. Our lovely and vaguely non-threatening host, Jimmy Callaway, will (sometimes) reward the best comic of the night with his own paycheck. And, as always, there is never a cover, never an item minimum, and of course the world-famous Halfy Hour, everything 50% off the menu. EVERYTHING. You are literally making money at this mic, and if you have something better to do on a Wednesday night, then you must be a surgeon or something, and frankly, none of us are all that impressed.
