Having kicked off 2015 all guns blazing, Mojo Juju looks set to see the year out in true cowboy style, riding off into the sunset. With two singles and an album all released in the first 4 months of the year, (not to mention the release of German film ‘Bestefreunde’, the soundtrack comprised entirely from Mojo Juju’s back catalogue.) All of this followed by a huge national tour with a full band, one would think Juju would be starting to slow down a little. However it seems that she is not quite done yet, keen to get up close and personal with her audience she is planning a run of ‘stripped back & intimate’ shows to round up the year. There will indeed be some festival appearances with the full band, but for the most part Juju will be keeping it as raw and personal as possible.
Teaming up with her long time collaborator, some times co-writer and real life sibling, Steven ‘T-Bone’ Ruiz de Luzuriaga (Drums/percussion), the two will perform new material which is yet to be recorded, along with a selection from Mojo’s two solo albums and two albums from their previous band ‘The Snake Oil Merchants’. These are shows focused around the songwriting and the storytelling, the vocals and the mood
The siblings have headlined tours as a duo in Australia & Europe, supported acts such as Swamp Blues legend Tony Joe White (USA) and RnB singer Nick Waterhouse (USA), and featured at an impressive list of Australian Music Festivals.
'As strong and single-worthy as nearly every track here is, it’s the sum of the parts that is most remarkable.' - The Music
‘The Dark, moody, soulful songs of Mojo Juju are maturing brilliantly. It seems every new track we hear from Melbourne based singer is packed with more attitude…’ – Double J
"Vintage Rock 'n' Roll licks, howling jazz and grinding juke-joint blues. Juju does for her genres what Lanie Lane has done for country music" – Sydney Morning Herald
"Sounding like it stepped straight of the set of a Quentin Tarantino film" – 4 Stars, MX
"This stunning album weaves an emotional tapestry of life, loss, love and regret" – 5 Stars, The Herald Sun
