Party: Body & Backdrop featuring Amir Alexander (Vanguard Sound/Anunnaki Cartel)

For our sixth party we’re teaming up with good friends Backdrop (who guested at our September and delivered some mind bending sounds), for our biggest party to date and our last outing for a couple of months.

Bringing things to a pretty special climax we’ve invited Vanguard Sound head Amir Alexander to headline proceedings.

Amir has been DJing since 1993 in Chicago and his experience behind the decks is evident to those who have been lucky enough to hear him delivering flawless selections from his very deep record bags at esteemed haunts such as Panorama Bar, Concrete, DC10 and Arma 17.

His work as a DJ is rivaled only by his productions, the plaudits for which have been raining in of late. Since his first outing in 2008 he has been building up a strong reputation amongst those who know, with 2012’s Gutter Flex EP (a strong Body favourite) elevating his profile even further. Recent frequent appearances on Anunnaki Cartel and his own Vanguard Sound have continued this upwards trajectory, delivering music that challenge perceptions of what divides house and techno.

2015 has seen the arrival of his debut album ‘Love and Fear’ to widespread critical acclaim and it’s a real journey, transcending modern genre tags. Heavily advisable listening.

With all this in mind, added to an ethos which couldn’t be more on the money ("I mix records...... I make tracks..... I dance to good underground club music") it seems that an Edinburgh debut is long overdue!

For our first full collaboration with Newcastle based Backdrop we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Amir to our favourite intimate spot in Edinburgh for what promises to be a night to remember.
