Party: Barluath at Montrose Folk Club

This is a welcome return visit to Montrose Folk Club by the up and coming Glasgow based Scottish folk band, Barluath. The band consists of five young singers and musicians who met whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

The Band embraces and enhances both the traditional and contemporary music of Scotland, Ireland and America. The instruments featured in the line up of Barluath include fiddle, whistle, guitar, highland and border bagpipes, bouzouki, guitar and keyboards.

Barluath feature an outstanding young singer in Ainsley Hamill. She has a stunning and powerful voice which is equally well suited to all types of material, whether traditional songs in Scots or Gaelic or material from the best of the American contemporary folk song writers. As one reviewer commented - "if you like Norah Jones, Crystal Gayle or Clannad, then you will love this."

The members of Barluath are Ainsley Hamill on vocals, Eilidh Firth on fiddle, Colin Greeves on highland and lowland pipes and whistles, Edward Seaman on guitar and Bouzouki, together with Alistair Iain Paterson on keyboards.
