Laurelthirst Pub, Omnivine & Eugene's SugarTop Buddery are proud to present legendary Acoustic Free Folk Funk band, HANUMAN. After 14 years, original members Paul Benoit (Guitar), Tige DeCoster (Acoustic Bass), and Jarrod Kaplan (Percussion) come together with long-time collaborator Damien Aitken (Saxophone) to revisit their music through new interpretations and explorations.

An iconic fixture within the NW music community, HANUMAN toured nationally from 1995 thru 2003 and performed at the West Coast's most prominent live music festivals, including High Sierra Music Festival, the Oregon Country Fair, NW Folklife, Bumbershoot, and Whole Earth, as well as Eastern gems like the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival. The band has shared stages with renown artists like String Cheese Incident, Jimmy Cliff, Jethro Tull, The Mickey Hart Band, Dan Bern, and The Grand Mothers (of Invention).

From African Highlife, to Bluegrass, to driving Latin and Funk Grooves, HANUMAN's diverse musical repertoire appeals to those with a wide range of musical tastes and a desire to dance.

The original quartet featured Trillian Green members Ben Klein (flute) and Jarrod Kaplan, joined by Paul Benoit (Crosseyed, Reggie Garrett & the Snake Oil Peddlers), and Tige DeCoster (Supersones). Over their 8 year run, the band grew to include Scott Law (guitar & mandolin), and Damien Aitken (saxophone).
Since HANUMAN's official break-up in 2003, HANUMAN COLLECTIVE, featuring Drummer/Percussionist Will Dowd, released 1 self-titled CD. Paul Benoit launched his own Americana/Roots Rock band, traveled extensively, focused on songwriting, and released 9 CDs. Tige DeCoster toured Russia with Guitarist Omar Torrez, began a teaching career while continuing to perform with a variety of acts in Seattle. Jarrod Kaplan recorded and toured with acoustic acts DEVACHAN, TAARKA, and The CA GUITAR TRIO, before accepting a 15-month stint with Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA (2007-2008). Following Circus life, Jarrod continued to perform with Seattle "bomba-grunge" rock band MANOOGHI HI, and has since been touring with Internationally renowned vocalist PEIA. Soloist Damien Aiken performed & recorded with the Scott Law Band and on several of Benoit’s projects, and has worked with a host of Seattle artists including JR RHODES. Damien now lives part of the year in Mexico where continues to shed and perform with the PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND, WILLIE EL CUBANO & LOS HOMBRES MALOS, and musicians from around the world.

After a 14-year hiatus, inevitably seasoned by time, each band member now brings the fruit of their lives & musical experience to the band. This reunion will feature new interpretations of much of the band's original repertoire (spanning 5 recordings).
