----- About Background Orcs ----



Background Orcs is a four piece funk /fusion band from the Boston, Massachusetts area. The Background Orcs sound can be described as “Deep Pocket Immersive Groove”, drawing from a variety of influences including Funk, Jazz, Reggae/Dub, Latin, and West African music. Members include Riley Stockwell (guitar), Jake Fletcher (Bass), Noah Lapierre (drums/percussion), and Scott Lyman (keys/synth). A group that is new to the scene has already been making waves throughout the northeast, creating quite the response from their audience and acquiring a solid fan base at early an early stage.



The four have been hard at work in the studio recording their first full-length album, which is to be released sometime in 2014. “Valiant Funk (Late Is The Hour)”, the first single and represents the essence of the Background Orcs sound, moving from a high energy funk dance party to psychedelic muses of sound and everywhere in between. It exemplifies the group’s ability to improvise as a cohesive unit and take it’s listeners with them on the ascension. The BORCS members will continue to finish recording Villains and add tour dates to their winter schedule.
