Day Four of the Carnival, SKYCITY Darwin NT Derby Day, showcases some of the best racing of the Territory racing calendar. All eyes are focused on the $135,000 SKYCITY Darwin Derby as the winner of the HOT100 Guineas attempts to prove they can run the 2000m distance and take home the 2nd leg of the $100,000 SKYCITY Triple Crown.
For the avid punter Derby Day is one not to be missed, as the Weight For Age Plate (1200m) and Buntine Handicap (1900m) are key yard sticks ahead of the Cup weekend features; the bet365 Palmerston Sprint and the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup.
There is so much at stake on Day Four with the winning horses from both the SKYCITYDarwin NT Derby (2000m) and the Buntine Handicap (1900m) earning automatic entry into the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup.
Fashionable fillies have resoundingly embraced the Derby Day tradition of elegance and splendour, wearing black and white attire. While the gents are encouraged to dust off their grey morning suit and enjoy many of the luncheon options available on course.
